Blue Prince has taken the world by storm as one of the most unique and well-designed puzzle games of the last few years. Being a game which doesn’t hold the player’s hand in any way, it can be as difficult as it is satisfying to learn how specific aspects of the game work.

8 Status of Rooms Remains Between Runs
Not Everything Resets
While the rooms of the mansion may reset on each day, you won’t always have to worry about spawning every room you need for a particular puzzle. Some puzzle-involved rooms like the Pump Room will retain their status until you enter them again. Though some you will still need to spawn even if their puzzle is solved like the Boiler Room.
In other words, what this means is that if you drain a room like the pool of water on one day, it’ll stay drained even when the daily reset happens. For a game that can be very strict in its RNG, having a saving grace like this goes a long way for solving the more complex puzzles.
7 Place the Foundation Somewhere Accessible
The Non-Changing Room
The Foundation is by far the most important Room to build in Blue Prince. Not only does it play a major role in solving one of the game’s largest puzzles, but it’s also the only room in the game which will permanently remain on your map. No matter how many days you take, the Foundation will always remain, completely bypassing the rougelike nature that most room spawns are subject to.
Because of this, you will want to be careful and make sure you place it somewhere you can reliably get to on each day. Place it too close to the entrance and you risk it being too far from the Antechamber to be useful, place it too high and you risk it being hard to reach. Somewhere in the middle of your map is likely the best location for this very useful room.
6 Always Turn the Gym Lights Off
The Worst Room
The Gym is one of the most disappointing rooms to draw in Blue Prince, as each time you step foot in this room you will lose 2 of your allotted footsteps for the day. While you may want to avoid creating this room altogether, sometimes it’s simply unavoidable. Thankfully, there is a way to get around the debuff this chamber grants.
If the player were to build a Utility Closet, then they will have the ability to turn on and off the lights in the Black Room, Gym, and Garage. Turning off the lights in the Gym is extremely useful as it will also turn off this two-step debuff, turning a dangerous room into a useful three-doored hallway! While the roguelike elements of Blue Prince can make some aspects of the game difficult, it’s nice that the game still lets you strategize around them.
5 Raise Keycard Security
A Sound Strategy
When accessing the computer in the Security Room, the player will be able to access and change the Mansion’s key card system. While you cannot rid yourself of the system entirely, you can change how frequently these door appear and if they’re locked while the system is offline. While many players may want to instinctively set the number of key card doors in the mansion to the lowest amount, it is actually more strategically sound to set it to the highest.
If you are lucky enough to get a keycard or set the system to offline via the Utility Closet, then what could have been five locked doors which require keys in the upper parts of the map will instead transform into keycard doors which you can open without spending any resources. While this strategy has some risk factor on account of needing either an item or a good room spawn, it is very useful in the long run.
4 Pick Up Your Daily Allowance
Extra Coin Never Hurt
Coins are one of the most valuable resources in Blue Prince. The game’s various shop rooms will allow players to gain extra footsteps, items to help them progress, or even unlock alternative game modes like Dare Mode. However, they are also one of the hardest resources to come across in a single day.
Thankfully, there are methods to make sure you start each day with at least a few coins in your wallet. Various actions you can take, such as running successful experiments in the Laboratory or reaching the center of the Cloister will add coins to your daily allowance, which you can collect in the Entrance Hall at the beginning of each day. If you want an easy time buying stuff, don’t forget to grab it! Especially as it can be difficult to see with the game’s first-person perspective
3 Search With the Magnifying Glass
Hints in Plain Sight
The Magnifying Glass item in Blue Prince is deceptively useful. While this tool won’t be earning you any extra keys or gems for progression, it will grant you something much more useful in the long run: knowledge and puzzle solutions.
Various items the player can examine in Blue Prince, such as the photo in the Boudoir or the photos in the Dark Room, contain secrets which can only be seen if the player zooms in on them with the magnifying glass. While these won’t fully solve the puzzles for you, they can be major hints and should be jotted down in a notepad for later.
2 Observatory is Invaluable
Stars Shining Bright
One of the most useful rooms to construct in Blue Prince is the Observatory, as each time the player constructs this room they will be able to gaze at the stars and gain a buff for the day. These buffs can range from simple things like gaining a single key to more complex things such as raising the chance of being able to construct a room with four doors.
After gaining several buffs from this room, the player will soon be able to receive multiple at a time, raising the value of constructing this room even more! This all culminates in the buff the room reaches the 50th time you construct it, which will allow you to redraw rooms fifty entire times on your current day! If you want an easy time reaching the Antechamber, make sure to construct the Observatory.
1 Room 46 Isn’t the Only Mystery to Solve
A Mansion of Secrets
While the main goal of Blue Prince is to find the mysterious 46’s room, that is far from the only mystery this manor holds within its walls. The game is filled to the brim with other puzzles and routes to which will help you in your quest, whether these be by adding permanent buffs to your daily reset or by giving you a safe code for goodies.
The most observant players might even make their way to the underground sections of the game, which leads to an entire thread of mysteries that involve almost every room in the mansion. Elements like this are exactly why Blue Prince has been able to take the gaming world by storm recently so make sure you keep your eyes peeled and your mind open to the mysteries of this mansion.
